A good outfit can make you feel like a million bucks, especially in the workplace. Getting dressed for work doesn’t have to be boring.
Since I joined the workforce in 2011, I’ve tried every “business casual” outfit from pencil skirts to pant suits. There’s at least one of everything in my closet and my closet is where they stay. Can I just say that the pencil skirt is the most awful piece of clothing ever created?! Gorgeous for a classy event, but incredibly uncomfortable for walking from meeting to meeting. It twists, it restricts, it makes you trip… I just can’t.
Also, I know they say it can never go out of style, but I feel like the traditional black slack is SO OUT. For years I’ve worn them with every blouse of every color and have always felt so… defeated. Like the rest of my business clothes, my six pairs of perfectly pressed black slacks live and die in my closet.
Enter: The Cropped Pant.
The cropped pant is everything. They are both flattering AND professional. You can dress them up or down. You also don’t have to worry about them shrinking after a year of trips to the dry cleaner. Here’s a few of my favorites:
