For most people, Monday means back to work, back to reality, and that dreaded five more full work days until the weekend. Not for us at you&coffee- For us, Monday means the beginning of a brand new week and a fresh set of exciting opportunities. Check out these five surefire ways to guarantee a successful week:
1.) Wake Up Early – “Smell the coffee”. Give yourself the time to mentally prepare for the day and get organized for the week. A good rule of thumb is to wake up three hours before your day is supposed to start- So, if you have to be in the office by 9:00a.m., you should be up and at em by 6:00a.m.
2.) Get Moving – Work out. The morning is the best time of the day to get a sweat in. It gives your body and mind a chance to wake up. It also knocks that workout off your to do list first thing in the morning… so you don’t have a chance to blow it off later for happy hour (admit it, we’re all guilty of this).
5:30a.m. cycling is the way I start my day- and Keeping your head up by Birdy (don diablo remix) is what brings me back to life on a Monday morning (especially after a week long vacation in the Dominican). Add it to your workout playlist for that extra push!
3.) Breakfast of Champions – Eggs & avocado with a hot cup of coffee please! Eat a big breakfast in the morning before you start your work day. Cook at home if you can, it’s healthier.
I love coming home after a hard workout and cooking scrambled eggs with turkey with a side of avocado toast. I usually watch the news, check a few of my favorite blogs, and start writing out my to-do list for the day… which brings me to #4.
4.) Make a To-Do List – This is so incredibly important. Whether you are a visual person or not, writing out a to-do list for the day (and week) forces you to think of all your weekly tasks and prioritize them.
For me, Mondays mean sales meeting and I have to be prepared. I prioritize my to-do list by account (customer) and task level of importance. Most customers have several tasks listed out below them for the week.
5.) Gratitude, Gratitude, Gratitude – Be thankful for the day. Remember what you’re working for and be thankful for the opportunities you have (including the breaths you take). Take a few minutes each morning to reflect and write down what you’re thankful for.
I have this adorable gratitude jar on my desk that I try to write in every morning. It actually makes me feel better and gives me that little push that I need to get focused.
Get up, get moving, get organized, give thanks, have a great Monday! and remember, you and coffee – can do anything.
