Welcome to you & coffee – A lifestyle blog with a focus on career and a purpose to help you pursue your passion, whatever it may be.
I share motivational material, career tips, and a few life hacks. I love networking and connecting people to each other and new opportunities.
Who am I? Jen Hilz, (yes with an actual Z). I’m 26 years old. From a small sweet little town in north Texas called Argyle, but currently residing in Uptown Dallas. I’m a sales rep for a technology solutions company. Always on the go, I’m a bit of a jet setter…traveling is my favorite hobby. I love to meet new people. I believe your network is the biggest influencer of your net worth. I love a good cup of coffee (hold the cream), a smooth glass of bold red wine with an oaky undertone, french fries with ranch, performers with actual talent (hello Adele & Sam Smith), and hand written cards sent via snail mail. I despise slow drivers in the lefthand lane and people who believe they are owed handouts. I have the utmost respect for anyone whose started their own business, even if it failed. Risk takers understand that life is short but it can be incredibly fruitful. My mom is my idol and if you met her, she’d be yours too. My dad is the motivation for almost everything I do. That’s me in a nutshell so…
Why write a blog? I’ve had this yearn to write for a while now. I couldn’t decide what to write about, where to do it, or who would even care to read it… but I knew I had to explore my creative side. In January, I started doing some research on “how to start a blog” and found myself about 30 articles deep 4 days later almost talking myself out of it. BUT there was one common theme across the board and it was to write for yourself, which is essentially what sparked my curiosity in the first place.
you&coffee is a place for me to debrief from my workday and a place for you to prepare for yours. I’m excited to share what I know, but most excited to share success stories and tips from others.
Why now? I feel very settled in life right now. I’m closer to 30 than I’d like to be… and with that came more nights in and a growing curiosity of how to finally pursue this creative dream of mine. Also, a much more mature and passionate attitude towards work.
What’s in a name?
The hardest part of starting a blog I think is picking the actual name. I really had to think about what my purpose was here and where the passion was coming from. One of the things I look forward to most is an early morning (I’m talking still dark outside), at my desk, in sweatpants, checking the headlines and reading interesting articles, with a nice. hot. cup of coffee. That is when I am most inspired and where I came up with the idea that if me and coffee can accomplish anything than so can you & coffee.
